Q:  What can I expect in a riding lesson at Green Wood Stables?

A:  Lessons are one hour in length.  Approximately 15 minutes of that time are spent grooming the and tacking up the horse.  Each lesson is roughly 45 minutes of riding time.  

Q:  What will I learn in a lesson at Green Wood Stables?

A:  We teach each student how to groom and tack up a horse.  We primarily focus on saddle seat lessons but also offer stock seat lessons.  The first few lessons are on an individual basis and then we move into a group setting as the rider progresses and becomes more comfortable.

Q:  How much do lessons cost?

A:  A one hour lesson is $35.

Q:  What should I wear to lessons?

A:  We suggest that you wear comfortable jeans or jods, boots (no slip sole with a heel), and a riding helmet.

Q:  Do I have to have my own tack?

A:  Green Wood Stables has tack for each of our lesson horses.  However, if you'd like to ride in your own saddle you are welcome to do so.

Q:  Do I need to own a horse to take lessons?

A:  No, here at Green Wood Stables we offer a variety of lesson horses for riders of all levels.  If at any point you decide that you would like to purchase a horse we use our knowledge to assist in the purchasing process.

Q:  Do I have to own a horse to show?

A:  No, we have horses available for riders to use at the shows we attend.

Q:  Do I have to show to take lessons?

A:  No, riding is a great source of exercise and we offer year round lessons in our indoor arena.
